The Voluptuous Woman Company (VWC) is an organization that functions as an information source for plus-size women and is based out of Maryland. The Voluptuous Woman Company was created to celebrate the plus-size woman by providing information and visibility for them through various distribution channels. VWC sponsors social, spiritual and empowering events that provide the plus-size woman with the necessary tools to live life to the fullest. For too many years society has placed emphasis on women size 12 and under, when the statistics state that 62% of the women in the United States are size 14 or larger.

In September 1999, VWC published the first edition of the Full-Figured Woman’s Resource Guide, which is a 272-page collection of retailers, manufacturers, designers, organizations, and websites that have products and/or services specifically for the plus-size woman. The second edition of the Resource Guide will be available in electronic format by Spring 2004.

VWC produced an empowerment weekend entitled A Diamond in the Rough: Empowerment Weekend for Today’s Plus-Size Woman. The weekend hosted 200 women at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria Hotel in October 2000. The Empowerment weekend included various workshops on health, fitness, dressing for success, plus-size modeling and careers in the plus-size industry. The conference included a luncheon featuring Actor/Author GregAlan Williams (BAYWATCH, THE DISTRICT) as the keynote speaker. The weekend concluded with the Third Annual Networking Reception and Fashion Show.

In 2003, the Voluptuous Woman Company added apparel and accessories to their current products and services. VWC carries fashionable clothing, accessories and foundations for women of size. VWC clothing and accessories can be purchased through fashion shows, private home shows, and our website (visit the VWC boutique).
